Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by having a new setting and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of humanity through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
