Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the attack is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a individual with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have have information to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, said the relatives are devastated to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she said.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
She appealed to the public to refrain from sharing explicit content from the incident, saying this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's children.

In a release, the broadcaster he worked for said Stock was known for his presence, warmth and intelligent commentary, adding that his memory "will endure".
