Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Songs About Manager Chris Wilder
Patrick Bamford is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year following starting derogatory chants directed at the team's coach, Wilder.
This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a contract joining the second-tier strugglers until January. His seven-year career with Leeds finished amicably in August.
Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading offensive chants about Wilder during Leeds' success festivities in April. Currently, the former England international is set to play for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to rescue the team he loves out of the relegation zone.
Past History Between Bamford & the Manager
Both men had a past before Leeds moved up to the Premier League last season and United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.
Reconciliation and Looking Ahead
Everything seems has been resolved with United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost up front while Bamford looking to resurrect his playing days.
The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.
Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.
“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Patrick.”
Latest Playing Struggles
Bamford featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
