The President Calls Families of Shot National Guard Members to White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.

White House Call

The president stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist public safety in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, informed the press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
