This Swine Life: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
