Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Real Supporters'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th Premier League home loss of the year.

However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away the ball well outside his box.

He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes truly irritated Frank.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period showing.

Ex- Premier League keeper Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He is a great team player, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Match

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

He said following the game that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second goal was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it's hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the next longest-range top division score of the season – following Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on Saturday.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was 5 moments following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them defended the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the right connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager

While Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a shared club record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to play before the close of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you too – the opening was a redirected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest rates on record in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the criticism," Murphy said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major football club with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
