Trump's Organization Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity accelerated its recruitment of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the identical, a report published Thursday claimed.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least nearly 200 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of applications for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the record filed by the company, and increased from 121 in 2021, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had sought to hire more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and tighter regulations for international scholars and reporters.

Overall, the business aimed to hire 566 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was criticized by some in the Republican party this week for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is entering, going to invest $10bn to build a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers undercut the pay of American employees.

The administration declined a request for comment, and the business did not provide an answer to an request for information.
